What are some examples in history in which the principles of the Declaration of Independence not followed?

If you think about the first 125 years or so of this country's history, you will have your answer. Blacks were treated as property, and women were not allowed to vote. Even after blacks were given their freedom after the civil war, they were disenfranchised. Much of that attitude carries over to today. How many blacks are in the U. S. Senate? Now that Mr. Obama is out there are none. The number of women in both branches of government or in almost any legislative body, does not reflect the fact that there are more women than men in the United States. Women are not allowed in combat. I hope this helps.
