What should i do to get better at basketball before the season starts again?

im thinking of trying out for the travel basketball team freshman as a forward. im 14 years old and im 5'11 and 150 pounds. thats good for a forward... right? and im not like a great basketball player. im good its just i good be better. like i can hit jump shoots MOST of the time but im better under the hoop with layops under it. which is what a forward does. but my dad was a great bball player when he was in highschool. he was pointguard. but anyways ik im never gonna be a point so what should i do to get better under the hoop as a forward and all around better as one? thanks
