Did the captain make a swim for it because he knew that Hussein wasn't going to help him?

I can see how desperate that poor captain of the relief vessel was. He knew he had to excape on his own because Hussein Obama doesn't give a rats azz for some white dude hostage. So he swam for it and they fired at him, and got him back. He was one brave, but probably dead dude.
