Can some one help me anser this question.?

In the movie, Superman, the young Superman is given a crystal that, when thrown into icy water, grows into a spacious building, complete with all sorts of training aids for the young boy. In essence, that is what life is—vast complexity that grows from tiny beginnings. Genetic material contains all the data to create a new creature when inserted into the right environment. How is the growth of a cell, or a boy, different from the growth of a crystal? How is reproduction of life different from the reproduction of a picture? Why is a bacterium considered alive, while a virus is considered non-life? If scientists find slimes on one of Jupiter’s moons that share the six characteristics of life on Earth, would they also be life? What is the relationship between life and the environment that hosts it?
